I've got a feeling Boone has it right that sooner or later he'll bust out. Still, appears they REALLY overpaid him. He played loose, under zero pressure in Miami. Makes a big difference.

Didn't realize he was a Valley kid. Raised in Tujunga, started at Verdugo Hills HS but transferred to athletic factory, Notre Dame HS in Sherman Oaks. Had football scholarship offers from both USC and UCLA.

Think he does  better in warm weather. And  when NOT DH.  He hit a couple  harder  tonite-- but  I think  30-35 HRs.   Agree  over paid--PEDs?

He's huge! Like to see his picture today posted next to a pic as a senior in Sherman Oaks. Probably like that famous Bonds pic of him as a SF Giant and while at Ariz State. Players do grow but, today, if it's that dramatic it's gonna always raise the PED specter.

Don't know about that, Doc. 10 Ks in a row is staggering. Here's another horrific stat. Orioles 1B Chris "Crush" Davis, on a $161M contract after his 53 and 47 HR seasons, is batting .156 after 201 AB. On pace for worst batting average ever.

Saw an old aerial photo of Comiskey Park today, circa 1959 World Series time frame. No Dan Ryan Expressway running behind the structure (Expressway wasn't built until '61) and the park still had the brick facade outside.

Why did Bill Veeck whitewash the exterior, covering up that old brickwork? I love Veeck but ... that was not a good move on his part. My guess is he thought a coat of white paint might spruce the old place up a bit. It didn't!!

A long-time Cook County Commissioner who was sort of the Robert Moses of Chicago (for super-highways, at least).
