We all know "Black Denim Trousers" by the Cheers.  Here are two unusual versions.  Pat Boone and his "booning" is a given, so please don't subject me to any of  his version crimes.  They don't have to be covers and I put this in OT so they can be any genre.  Many thanks.

Vaughn Monroe

Edith Piaf

My favorite song by a white group is "Trying" -Hilltoppers  I can't stand anything else they did.  A case in point is "Only You".

If there's someone who loves George Grant more than I, I haven't met them yet, but this "Golden Teardrops" was so wrong for so many reasons.

Great topic Shandy.  I haven't figured out how to post a youtube song here so I won't try.  For me a truly strange version is Vito & The Salutations doing Al Hibbler's Unchained Melody.

Bob - I HATE that song with a passion, but I'll post it because it certainly fits the topic.  I would NEVER put this in my clips topic Angry

My love for Andre Williams know no bounds.  He was smart enough to write "Shake A Tail Feather" and pass it on to the Won-der-ful 5 Du-Tones.  He was not so smart in recording it himself.

I can't imagine what the hell they were thinking, this is so bloody awful it's hilarious, considering who it is.  "That'll Be The Day".

Never thought I'd hear a "Jenny Lee" worse than Jan & Arnie's version but ... the Dominoes achieved it.  Did they ever cover "Gas Money"?

From 18 months ago (NY Post):

Not even prison can compare to the hell that is marriage.

Phil Spector, who was sentenced to 19 years to life for a 2009 murder, has filed for divorce from wife Rachelle Short, accusing her of blowing through his $35 million fortune.

Among the items Spector, 76, alleges Short has purchased is a $350,000 airplane, an Aston Martin and a Ferrari, expensive plastic surgery, expensive jewelry and two homes for her mom, TMZ reports.

Meanwhile, Spector says his bride only gives him $300 a month from his private stash to survive in jail.

The record producer wed Short in 2006, while he was awaiting trial for the 2003 killing of Lana Clarkson. He won’t be eligible for parole until age 88, in 2028.

Also --- from a picture, he looks like hell!

Who was the lead singer for this London record release by The Dominos?
Because it is NOT The Dominos.

Sounds like London Records used the same soundtrack as their Jan and Arnie release.

Mabe just used their name?

doc - He's been playing with guns for decades and it had to happen sometimes.  It probably did, but didn't result in death so he paid him off.  I think he's been mentally ill for a very long time and I agree, it's sad.

Hey, John... When are you going to write a book on all of the colorful people you have met in life?

"Glory of Love" is just one beautiful song all by itself, but after the Velvetones (sorry, Dan:( } version, I need the recitation.  The exception is Otis Redding's version, he takes it apart and doesn't put it back together again.

Re: Barrett/Redding: Seems like sometimes there's a reason the hit versions were hits and other versions were not. IMHO, neither of these is very good despite the fact that as a rule I like Barrett, the Chantels, and Redding.

Mike - LOVE Otis, the Barrett/Chantel combo, not so much.  It's an unusual version, as fits the topic, but not in a good way Smiley

From   info we all  have,   knowing his bodyguard George,  and  reading "To  now him Is to  Love Him."   I never talked to  him BTW.   A clear narcissist,  but also  appeared chronically depressed,  (no  chin,  5 ft 6 etc,)so turned to  alc  for relief.

Could not  tolerate the word no,  so used guns.  He  was  waiving the gun  in his young  pretty   female victim's face,  and the loaded gun went off.  I truly believe he meant to threaten her,  not shoot her.  But if  u  throw a baseball  off  the  Empire  St   building  &  hit  & kill someone==murder.  " In  gross disregard  for human life."

He was drunk=bad judgment.

What  creativity--yrs ago-not  much after  70s-80s.
