!n 1976, a writer for Esquire Magazine came up with his "All-Time All-Polish" MLB team. I'll give you the years the player was in the Majors, and some pertinent info. You try for the name. Most, but not all, were all-star caliber. One might've been more associated with another position but definitely played the position he holds on this team.

RH Starting Pitcher - Played 1912-28. Won 215 games, mostly for Cleveland between 1916-24.

LH Starting Pitcher - 1907-18. Biggest years were for the Detroit Tigers in the mid-teens decade.

Reliever - 1961-73. Last MLB season was with the California Angels. Lefthander.

C - 1948-63. Played for many teams. Prodigious minor league hitter. Journeyman. Best year was for St. L Cards.

1B - 1947-61. Led NL First Basemen in fielding pct five consecutive years in the early 50s.

2B - 1956-72. Only played for one team.

SS - 1957-65. Outspoken guy. Rookie of the Year.

3B - 1941-49. Only played for one team. Best year was 1947.

LF - 1961-83. Hit 40 HRs 3x in his career. Drove in over 100 runs 5x.

CF - 1924-44. Did not play under his given name. Once led the majors with 216 hits in a season.

RF - 1941-63. One year he finished a season one HR short of the Triple Crown.

RF - Stan Musial
C - Carl Sawatski
2B - Bill Mazeroski
LF - Carl Yaztrezmski
SS - Tony Kubek
1B - Ted Kluzewski
RHP - Stan Coveleski
CF - Al Simmons (Nee Syzmanski)
3B - Whitey Kurowski
LHP - Harry Coveleski
Rel.P - Ron Perrenoski

Not the same team I would pick.

Robb, that's a great start. The only remaining positions to be named are the LH Starter, the Relief Pitcher, and the 3B.

A hint for each:

LH Starting Pitcher - Pitched over 300 innings, 23 Complete Games, and 22 Wins for the Tigers in 1914. Still holds Tigers record for lowest ERA for a Starting Pitcher in a season (2.34).

Relief Pitcher - Once, in the 1960s, had a 16 win season as a Reliever.

3B - Had a misshapen right arm, a couple inches shorter than his left arm. Dead pull hitter because of the shorter arm. Opposing 2B often played this RH hitter on the SS side of the 2B bag. Once hit game-winning HR off Red Ruffing in a critical WS game.

I thought I got all 3 of those before you made this post?  My last post was 2 minutes before your came on.  I'm watching Blues'/Sharks game.  Just looking in here during commercial breaks.   Grin
