That may partially explain why averages are lowest in 50 yrs,& Cole is amazing.

You mean the fielders are putting stickum on their gloves so the can snag balls out of the air even when they just graze them?  Grin  But then the pitchers couldn't pitch.  The balls wouldn't leave their hands, and they'd be getting called for balks on every pitch.  On the other hand, they'd never have a base runner to take another base, because the batter could never hit a pitch that never came, and the pitcher couldn't have any balls called if they never let go of the balls.  They'd have to add a "delay of game" penalty to the sport, -something they should have done fifty years ago, when pitchers started REALLY taking ridiculous amounts of time between pitches.  Cheesy

No Robb-the stickum speeds up the "spin rate".  Makes the ball faster-there a few 100 mph pitchers around now--and ball particularly 4 seam fast ball,cutter  & slider move more.

Most strikeouts ever & lower BA than early 70s wen mound was lowered.
